Angel 5.11: Damage

Okay. Glad they dealt with the Slayer thing. I’m going to go on record as saying that I don’t buy that NO ONE would pick up the phone and call LA and be all “HEY THERE ARE SLAYERS EVERYWHERE.” They run one of the biggest and best connected powers in the world and Wolfram and Hart didn’t catch wind of that before ANDREW got to town. Seriously?

Also - Andrew. Jeez. What a kickass and totally-never-would-have-guessed-it cameo. Gosh I hope there are more. Never in a hundred years would I have thought Andrew. I love that Drew Goddard - I should say the incomparable Drew Goddard since he has a flawless track record - co-wrote this episode and I love that he moved to Angel.

I haven’t read Season 8 yet - and I’m not sure how much of this jives with that - but I do love the little glimpse that we got into that world. I love Andrew’s new sense of importance and his hobbit haircut. I didn’t totally buy at the end that Angel’s position at Wolfram & Hart have made them doubt him. That’s only because they’re trying to sell the “moral complications of working for Wolfram & Hart” so hard that I feel like they’re hitting it from every angle. But I do find it completely plausible that the Buffy who finished Season Seven would say “She’s a Slayer. She’s mine. Bring her back at all costs.” Completely. General Buffy would totes pull that rank.

I loved seeing Lorne be put to work on a real case again. Small aside - I’ve missed seeing them utilize Lorne’s full abilities.

I don’t believe, however, that Andrew had a small army of Slayers at his disposal this entire time and never thought to use them in the hunt for Psycho Slayer. Helloooooo.

Most importantly: knowing they “had” to deal with the issue of awaking all of the Potentials - they found a really cool way to do it.
